Broken window, lost keys or blocked toilet?

Share

Any of those sound familiar? These are some of the most common things that can happen to your home, along with the broken boiler and leaks.
Are you someone who is able to fix it? Or know someone who is able to do it for you? Maybe the kind neighbour? If you are lucky enough to be able to fix these problems yourself you are probably in the minority ; many of us simply do not possess the skills, or even the tools to fix many of the problems that may go wrong in the home.

So who do we call to fix them? You may be lucky and be able to ring a friend who can recommend someone. But when you are locked out, the last thing you want to be doing is ringing all of your friends and family seeing if they have the number of a good locksmith they can give you. Do you risk ringing 118 118 or directory enquiries asking them to put you through to a locksmiths? They can get  help for you under these circumstances but there may be a possibility that the call out fee may be more than the cost of the replacement lock.
What about your blocked toilet? It is unlikely that many people would go running the kitchen sink to pull on the Marigolds to tackle this one, It really is something that is better left to the experts.

Broken window? As with most of these things that happen, they are rarely at a convenient time, either just before going on holiday or during what may seem like a tropical rain storm, not to mention the added risk of a lack of security.
Or how about in the depths of winter, as the freezing wind blows down the chimney and howls outside, and you feel as if the weekend's weather may be a repeat of what was experienced in The Day After Tomorrow, the boiler chokes, splutters, wheezes and then packs in. You have that knowing feeling that the Gas man will be laughing all the way to your house, and you hear your mother's voice in your ear..... ‘Didn't I say that this might happen... Didn't I say you should have taken out the additional protection'.

So why not have an insurance that will cover all of these things and more for you? This is where Home Emergency Protection comes in. Home Emergency Protection covers all of these problems that spring up unexpectedly in and around the home, and more.
So what is it? Well, it is very much what it says on the tin. Although providers differ in cover, Protect your bubble cover against blocked toilets and drains, lost keys, broken windows, boiler breakdowns, failure in mains supply, pest infestation and there is even a payment if you are not able to stay in your home due to an emergency*.
So what are the benefits of having the cover? Well, the fact that it covers such a wide range of incidents means that there is always something there for you, rather than having your boiler covered on one policy, your water pipes covered on another policy and then all the exclusions that come with each them. Not to mention the cost of having multiple policies, which may still not offer the same lever of cover.

With home emergency cover, you are able to ring just one number. No searching through policies for the number to call to claim, trying to find the matching policy number and no ringing friends and family to find a recommendation ... or taking a lucky dip pick with directory enquiries.

Consider also, you will have the knowledge that the tradesperson is fully qualified, and that the work is guaranteed, no call out charges, labour costs or parts. This also means that you do not have to worry about trying to get to a bank. With cheques being an almost forgotten form of payment, it sends a bolt of panic through you as you realise the Locksmith does not come with a chip and pin machine for your flexible friend. This is when you think for a moment that your parents had the right idea of an ‘emergency stash of cash' in the house for times such as this. But no need, it is all paid for from the policy so you do not have to worry.

So make sure that your home is covered in the event of an emergency, get home emergency insurance .

*Exclusions Apply. Please check the full terms and conditions of the policy before proceeding.
