Home Emergency Boiler Insurance

Boiler insurance

Keeping your boiler in good condition is of paramount importance in order to help avoid expensive repairs and the inconvenience of being without it when it goes wrong.

The boiler insurance that is provided with our gold cover home emergency plan will:

  • arrange for an authorised repairer to carry out a full annual service of
    your primary heating system;
  • carry out an efficiency test on your boiler;
  • check that your radiators are functioning correctly.

Boilers - essential, expensive & sometimes dangerous

If you have central heating then at its heart will be a boiler. This drives the warm water around your house to provide you with essential heating in winter and the added convenience of a hot water supply.

Yet boilers can and do go wrong. If they do, not only could this mean that you are facing cold and miserable days until it gets fixed but in some situations it could also prove dangerous. If it does go wrong, it will certainly prove expensive to fix.

Maintenance as prevention

It is generally accepted that there is a direct relationship between keeping your boiler clean, well maintained and regularly tested, and it's efficient and safe operation. This may reduce your running costs as well as the risks of breakdowns and other problems occurring.

Unfortunately, the cost of getting in a qualified boiler and heating expert to service your equipment may put some people off. That is why Protect your bubble have included a superb boiler preventative maintenance offer as part of the boiler insurance provisions of our home emergency plan.

What the boiler service will provide:

The service we arrange will include:

  • ensuring that the gas and electricity supply are isolated;
  • dismantling the appliance to gain access to the combustion area and controls;
  • inspection and clean;
  • checking the heat exchanger surface;
  • checking the main and pilot burner;
  • checking the fan, removing all dust from the impeller;
  • checking all safety devices;
  • checking all water, electrical and gas connections for soundness and safety;
  • checking flue ways, air intake ducts and the flue terminal;
  • checking and confirming the ventilation requirements;
  • carrying out a flue flow test and spillage test if the appliance is open flued;
  • checking the burner gas pressure or heat input against manufacturers data;
  • checking all combustion chamber seals for soundness;
  • checking the stability of the appliance and any retaining devices;
  • checking the working gas pressure.

As with all insurance policies,  exclusions and limitations apply and it is important that you read the terms and conditions of this policy to determine if these apply to you and for full details of the cover. This will also help you understand the level of protection that this product provides.
