Protect Your Bubble present Neil Harris of Sport in Mind with a cheque from Assurant's global steps challenge

This summer, Protect Your Bubble staff in Maidenhead went the extra mile in a global steps challenge, competing with Assurant offices all over the world for the chance to win a donation for a local charity.

Employees from the office in Berkshire managed an incredible 6,116,953 steps in June.

Nav Cheema led the way with an average of over 20,000 steps per-day and Russell Hammond also put in a gargantuan effort, including walking 75 miles in one gruelling ultra-marathon (makes your feet sore just thinking about it!).

As a reward for their efforts, Maidenhead nabbed the second-place spot (just behind the Hamilton office in Ontario, Canada) and received £3,837 to donate to a local cause.

The team chose Reading-based independent mental health sports charity ‘Sport in Mind’ who use sport and physical activity to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental health issues.

This month, we met Neil Harris, Sport in Mind Founder (and thoroughly pleasant chap), to chat about the great work they do in the local community:

“Sport in Mind are excited and extremely grateful to receive such fantastic support from Assurant.

“This donation will enable our charity to help aid the recovery of local people experiencing mental health problems through the provision of weekly supported sport and physical activity groups.

“As a small, Berkshire formed charity we are reliant on the generosity of local people and to receive such a sizeable donation is absolutely fantastic.”

James Brown, director of Protect Your Bubble, also expressed his happiness about the Maidenhead office being able to support such a worthwhile cause:

“Not only have we embraced a healthier lifestyle, we have raised thousands of pounds for a very worthwhile charity, that works to improve the lives of those living with mental health issues across Berkshire.

“I would like to thank everyone once again for their hard work.”
